Formula 1: Behind the scenes of the 2021 French GP on the Paul Ricard circuit in Le Castellet

Why are the French repassionnant for Formula 1?

3:08 p.m .: Verstappen came in too hard in the first corner

On slow motion we see Verstappen braking very late and losing the rear of his car.

He had nevertheless kept his advantage in the first straight, it's a shame.

3:06 p.m .: No change of position behind Verstappen

The positions did not move behind Verstappen, Bottas still 3rd, Perez 4th, Sainz 5th, Galsy 6th, Leclerc 7th.

3:05 p.m .: It's a tough battle between the McLaren drivers

Norris and Ricciardo fight for 9th place, advantage to Ricciardo

3:03 p.m .: VERSTAPPEN ERROR IN THE 1ST TURN

The RedBull rider is directly passed by Hamilton, he came out too wide

3:02 p.m.: The pilots settle on the grid, it will go

See you at the first corner!

3:00 p.m .: 10% risk of rain according to the FIA

They are more optimistic than my friend Jean Cartographe.

We want rain!

2:58 p.m.: It could be very difficult from the first corner between Verstappen and Hamilton

The formation lap has started.

It should be noted that the majority of pilots beyond 10th place have opted for hard compounds, which will last longer than the medium tires which equip the first 10 pilots.

2:57 p.m .: 15,000 spectators at Paul Ricard

One of the events of this weekend is the return of the public.

After a gauge of 7,000 spectators in Monaco, this French Grand Prix will be contested in front of 15,000 spectators.

We see a lot of French flags, and a lot of applause for Gasly and Ocon.

2:55 p.m.: The wind is blowing stronger than on Saturday

Last little weather report before departure.

If the track has had time to dry since this morning, the wind is blowing stronger than on Saturday.

An element that could benefit Mercedes, to be confirmed.

2:52 p.m .: Behind the scenes of the French Grand Prix

A few more minutes to dive behind the scenes of this French Grand Prix that I was able to explore on Saturday during qualifying.

With a video, pleasure to offer.

2:50 p.m .: Tsunoda will start from the pit lane

The Japanese have changed, finally his mechanics, not him of course, the flat bottom of his car as well as the gearbox, so he will start alone from the pit lane.

He had crashed his car on the first lap of the qualifying session.

2:45 p.m.: The Marseillaise has just sounded, the track has dried up

Another 15 minutes before the start of this Grand Prix.

It rained on the Paul Ricard circuit this morning but the track had time to dry out.

According to an amateur meteorologist friend, the risk of rain is about 20%.

We admit that we would have liked to see a few drops to spice up the race.

2:33 p.m .: We start this live with a thought for Philousports

This big fan of sports and in particular of Formula 1, known for his benevolence on Twitter, left us on Saturday evening.

We are sure he would have been in front of this F1 French Grand Prix.

We think of him, and of all his relatives.

Hello everyone, and welcome to

20 Minutes

to follow the 2021 French Grand Prix on the Paul Ricard circuit in Le Castellet. It's a big first for us to live in F1, we hope you like it and that many of you will be watching us. We will make you experience the battle at the top between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton for the first place of the World Championship. The two drivers will also start from the first two places on the grid, with a small advantage for the Dutch driver. On the French side, Pierre Gasly achieved a good performance by grabbing 6th place, in the middle of RedBull, Mercedes and Ferrari, with his Alpha Tauri. Esteban Ocon could not do better than 11th position, but he will have the choice of his tires for the start.

It rained this Sunday morning on the Paul Ricard circuit, but the risk of downpours remains relatively low for the race.

Be careful with the wind, however, much more present than during qualifying on Saturday, which could benefit the Mercedes.

Follow the French Grand Prix with us, the start is scheduled for 3 p.m.
