The coach of the Kuwaiti-Kuwaiti team, German Peter Schumers, said that he is happy to return to his former club Shabab Al-Ahly, who won with him 26 championships between 2012 and 2017, including three Gulf titles, when he leads his current team to compete for the title of the Gulf Club Championship, which is held in Hospitality of the Al-Ahly Youth Club hall, and it will continue until the 26th of this month.

Schumers told "Emirates Today": I was keen, upon my arrival in Dubai, to visit the club and meet the players of the "Dubai Knights", with whom I had a strong relationship, and we won many titles locally and abroad.

He added, “I was very happy to see team captain Saeed Ateeq, in his new position as assistant coach, alongside Mohamed Abdel Latif, who has become a talented star, and Qais Omar, who has always gained my confidence in the team’s formation in terms of focus, and the two brothers Saeed and Mohamed Mubarak, playmakers, and other names that Together we have achieved great things.”

He added: Realism will make itself available on the field. Yesterday's friends are today's competitors, and we are ready to take on the challenge, in light of the strong desire of the Kuwaiti players to regain the Gulf title absent from the coffers of Kuwaiti clubs, since my current team crowned Kuwait in the 2003 Gulf Cup.

He continued, "The task is always difficult in the face of the host, but I will use several keys in the meeting, including my previous knowledge of the capabilities of Al-Ahly youth players."

He concluded: Most of the teams will not reveal all their cards in the preliminary round, and we look forward to providing a performance that satisfies the Kuwaiti public.

On the other hand, Al-Ahly youth seeks, today, to secure the top spot in the preliminary round when it faces at six thirty in the afternoon, Al-Ahly of Bahrain, in a meeting in which both parties seek to win the second victory in a row, after the victory of the Dubai Knights in the opening match. The Saudi victory “98-93”, and the Bahraini team achieving a difficult victory over the “Qatari North”, by “97-93”.
