Hungary sends an unexpected shock to the French national team

Host Hungary embarrassed France, the world champion, and forced it to equalize it in the second half, 1-1, today in Budapest, in the second round of Group F of the European Cup in football, being held in its 16th edition in 11 cities and countries.

France, runner-up in the last edition and champion of the 1984 and 2000 editions, failed to officially guarantee its qualification to the final price, even if it came very close logically, after its inaugural victory over Germany 1-0.

The roosters raised their score to four points in the lead temporarily, while Hungary won its first point after falling to the defending champion Portugal with three points, knowing that the latter will defeat Germany later in Munich.

While France dominated the entire course and chances of the first half, Hungary ended it with a counter-attack goal and a defensive error scored by veteran full-back Attila Viola (45 + 2).

In the second, France invested its advantage and equalized from Kylian Mbappe's pass to Antoine Griezmann inside the area (66).

In its last seven matches in the group stage of the European Cup, France won four times, and failed to excel three times, all on June 19, similar to the confrontation with Hungary on Saturday (1-1), against Sweden (zero-2) in 2012 and Switzerland (zero- zero) in 2016.

France started the match by playing 21 matches in which it lost an orphan once in various competitions. It was against Finland in a friendly 0-2 last November.

The two teams played 8 matches in Budapest, the last of which was France winning 3-1 in a friendly in 1990, after suffering six losses, the largest of which was in 1927, with a score of 13-1.

This is the first meeting between them at the level of tournaments, since the first round of the 1986 World Cup, when France won 3-0.
