The Japan Karatedo Federation will hold a national competition by weight from next year in order to improve the competitiveness of "Kumite", which is a one-on-one competition.

Karate "Kumite", which fights one-on-one while making full use of techniques such as kicking and thrusting, has five classes for men and women according to weight at international competitions other than the Tokyo Olympics.



However, until now, only the All Japan Championship, which competes indiscriminately for weight, has been held in Japan.



In response to this situation, the Japan Karatedo Federation = Japan Karate Federation decided to hold a national competition by weight from next year in order to improve competitiveness, and it was approved by the board of directors held on the 19th.



The class of the new national competition by weight will be set according to the same standards as the international competition, and the timing and venue will continue to be discussed.



The Japan Karate Federation will continue to hold the All Japan Championship, which is indiscriminate in weight, every year.
