The Iraqi Adnan Hamad, coach of the Jordan national team, set the date for the start of the mission

The Jordan Football Association announced on Wednesday the return of Iraqi coach Adnan Hamad to supervise the first national team to succeed Belgium's Vital Borkelmans, a day after he failed to qualify for the final round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup, losing against Australia (0-1).

The Jordanian Federation said in a statement, "Based on the modest performance and results that the first national team witnessed in the joint qualifiers, the Executive Board of the Football Association met today, Wednesday, June 16, headed by His Highness Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, and decided to accept the resignation of The coach of the first national team, Vital Borkelmanns, and his assistant Stefan Vanderheiden, and the appointment of coach Adnan Hamad, as the technical director of the first national team.

The statement indicated that Hamad "will lead the next stage, starting with the national team's match against South Sudan in Doha on the 21st of this month, as part of the qualifiers for the 2021 Arab Cup."

Adnan Hamad, who currently works as an analyst for the "BN Sport" channels, trained Jordan for nearly 4 years and led him to face Uzbekistan in the decisive round of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers, in which the players arrived to face Uruguay in the play-off match between Asia and South America.

Hamad also managed to lead Al Nashama to qualify and participate in the 2011 Asian Cup finals in Doha, before being knocked out in the quarter-finals against Uzbekistan.
