Mats Hummels' own goal was enough to give France a 1-0 victory over Germany in their opening Group F campaign for the European Football Championship on Tuesday, as Germany lost their opening match in the European Championship finals for the first time.

The world champion took the lead in the 20th minute after Lucas Hernandez sent a powerful cross from the left in front of the goal, and Hummels tried to clear it, but the ball hit his foot and into the net.

Adrian Rabiot hit the post at the beginning of the second half, and Kylian Mbappe scored a wonderful goal that the referee canceled due to offside, while the German attack suffered to equalize.

The referee denied Mbappe a penalty kick after he ran faster than Hummels to catch a long ball in the 78th minute, and he also canceled another goal for France, scored by Karim Benzema, for offside.
