Rinus van Kalmthout sustained an injury to his collarbone on Tuesday.
The Dutchman, who is doing well in the IndyCar Series this season, crashed during a training ride on the bike.
Ed Carpenter Racing, Van Kalmthout's team, only mentions the injury in a statement and does not say anything about its seriousness.
'VeeKay' is still undergoing treatment and is doing well, the team said.
It is still unclear what his injury will mean for Van Kalmthout for the upcoming race - Sunday will be in Wisconsin - and the rest of the season.
Van Kalmthout made an impression on Saturday by reaching the podium for the third time in his still young IndyCar career.
He finished third in Detroit, where he was only eighteenth in the second race the following day due to a puncture.
Last month, Van Kalmthout made history with a rare Dutch victory in the IndyCar Series.
The 20-year-old driver was then the best at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The IndyCar Series season consists of eight more races.
Van Kalmthout is pretty fifth in the standings.
[UPDATE] Yesterday, Ed Carpenter Racing driver @RinusVeeKay was involved in an accident on a cycling trail during a training ride.
He sustained a clavicle injury and is currently being treated by INDYCAR's medical staff.
VeeKay is in good spirits and has no other injuries.
