Rick van Drongelen will play in the German Bundesliga again from next season.
Union Berlin has taken over the Rotterdam defender from Hamburger SV, both clubs announced on Tuesday.
It is not known for how many years 22-year-old Van Drongelen has signed with the club from Berlin, which surprisingly finished seventh in the Bundesliga last season with Sheraldo Becker in the ranks.
Reportedly, 500,000 euros has been paid for him.
In 2017, at the age of eighteen, Van Drongelen made the switch from Sparta Rotterdam to Hamburger SV, which played at the highest level in Germany at the time.
In the same season, the club was relegated from the Bundesliga for the first time in club history.
In the following years, HSV kept missing out on promotion with basic customer Van Drongelen.
Due to serious injuries, he only played four games in the 2. Bundesliga this season.
He played his last game on March 1 this year.
"Last season was very difficult for me personally and I am very happy that I am making the switch to Union Berlin," says Van Drongelen on the Union Berlin site.
"I am proud to be part of a team that has made so many strides in recent years."
