Portugal's big star Cristiano Ronaldo made his international breakthrough in the European Championship context.

It was at home in Portugal in 2004 that Ronaldo seriously broke into world football.

A then 19-year-old Ronaldo made it to the final with his national team, where they fell against Greece.

He was also, as you know, with and won the European Championship 2016.

Historical - twice over

Today he made his first match in the European Championship 2020 when Portugal faced Hungary.

That meant his fifth European Championship, more than anyone else in history.

But the 36-year-old did not finish the record with that.

The match lasted a long time and weighed - with chances in both directions.

But in the end, Portugal got a hole in Hungary.

In the 84th minute, Raphael Guerreiro made it 1-0.

Then it ran on.

Ronaldo two-goal shooter

In the 87th minute, Cristiano Ronaldo struck on penalty with his 10th goal in the European Championship context and was thus left alone on the throne.

He previously shared the record with the Frenchman Michel Platini who scored nine goals (all during the 1984 European Championships).

Five minutes later he was there again and put 3-0.

After a nice combination play, Ronaldo rounded the Hungarian goalkeeper and placed the final result.
