Stefanos receives shocking news minutes before playing the most important tennis final of his career

Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas announced, Monday, that he received the news of the death of his grandmother just minutes before the start of the final match in the French Open tennis, which he lost to Serbian Novak Djokovic.

The 22-year-old Greek, who ranked fourth in the ATP rankings, the best in his career, dedicated the achievement of reaching his first Grand Slam final to his paternal grandmother, in a post on his Instagram account.

"Five minutes before I entered the stadium, my grandmother lost her battle for life," Tsitsipas wrote. "A woman whose faith in life and will to give cannot be compared to anyone else I have met."

He added, "It is important that there are more people like her in this world. Because people like her make you live. They make you dream."

Tsitsipas is considered the heir of the three tennis giants, Serbian Djokovic, Swiss Roger Federer, and Spaniard Rafael Nadal.

But after hearing the bad news, he said there are more important things in life than winning titles.

He added, "Life is not about winning or losing. It is about enjoying every moment in life, alone or with others. Living a life full of meaning, without misery or meanness. Raising cups and celebrating victories is one thing, but it is not everything."
