Just two weeks ago, Barbora Krejcikova won her first singles tournament when she won in Strasbourg.
Now she can also add a grand slam title to her merlist.
In front of 5,000 spectators, she won the final of the French Open 2-1 in sets (6-1, 2-6, 6-4).
After a shaky start, Krejcikova won six straight games and took home the first set 6-1.
The set victory came after impressive play on the gravel in Paris.
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova came out stronger in the second set and had, among other things, two break balls against her which she managed to sort out.
The Russian went up to 5-2 before the set had to be broken due to injury.
Pavlyuchenkova received treatment and came back into play with a tightly taped left thigh.
Despite that, she won the second set 6-2 and equalized to 1-1.
The last set was even.
When Krejcikova had the chance to decide, Pavlyuchenkova saved two match balls and ensured that the final lived on.
But in the end, the Russian could not resist.
Krejcikova won the third set 6-4 and won the French Open in its only fifth start in a grand slam.
For Krejcikova, who is previously world number one in doubles, there is a chance for another title tomorrow when she plays the final in the French Open in doubles.
