«Sharjah Sports» supports Salem Abdul Rahman with one million dirhams

The Sharjah Sports Council provided financial support of one million dirhams, to prepare the player of the national team and the Sharjah Chess Club, the great international master Salem Abdul Rahman, in the benefits that await him during the next two years, most notably the World Championships to be held next July in the Russian city of Sochi, with the participation of elite world stars in that game.

Salem Abdul Rahman had advanced 19 places in the international classification, to be included in the list of the best 31 players in the world, according to statistics issued by the International Federation of Rapid Chess in June 2021.

Sheikh Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Mualla, President of the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, praised the support provided to the club and all its affiliates, by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.

He said in a press statement: "Thanks to this support, the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club has achieved multiple results and achievements locally, Arab, continental and globally."

A statement issued by the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club said that Salem Abdul Rahman is currently training in a special camp with the great international professor and world coach, Russian Alexei Dreyev, who had supervised his training in 2015, during his participation in the Asian International Individual Chess Championship, in which he obtained a first place.

The statement added: "The club's coach, the great Latvian international professor, Fiorel Lorda Jesko, joined the camp, to participate in a program to prepare the Emirati champion, which will continue until July 10, as the player trains for seven hours a day."

The Secretary-General of the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, Jamal Al Midfa, confirmed that the club worked in the past period, in cooperation with the Department of Sports Affairs and Development in the Sharjah Sports Council, to develop a well-thought-out plan of action for the golden boy, to qualify him to compete for world championships.
