Alexander Zverev missed his first final at the French Open.

The German top player lost to Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas 3: 6, 3: 6, 6: 4, 6: 4, 3: 6 in the semifinals on Friday and left the chance for the second Grand Slam final of his career after the US Open 2020 off.

Instead of Zverev, Tsitsipas will now meet Paris record champion Rafael Nadal or world number one Novak Djokovic in his first major final on Sunday (3 p.m. / Eurosport and ServusTV).

For Zverev, the number six in the world from Hamburg, the fact remains that he cannot beat the top 10 players in Grand Slams.

It didn't work on the tenth attempt either.

The last German professional to date in the Roland Garros final was Michael Stich in 1996, who then lost to the Russian Evgeny Kafelnikow.
