Stefan Billborn took over as coach for Allsvenskan Hammarby three and a half years ago.

Today, the club announced that they have broken off their collaboration with him.

- We have made a decision to make a change in the head coach position.

This means that Stefan Billborn is leaving his position, and that Hammarby Football will present a new head coach shortly.

This decision has been made after a long period of evaluation and it was not an easy decision to make, says chairman and acting CEO Richard von Yxkull to the club's website.

- Stefan is and has been a very popular employee, and he has done important work for us.

However, we have jointly within the club management together with the sports management come to the conclusion that we need a change for our continued sports development.

"Is an extremely skilled football coach"

Two weeks ago, Hammarby won the Swedish Cup.

- Stefan is an extremely skilled football coach who has achieved a lot during his time with us.

With his professionalism and eye for detail, he has taken our game to a new level, and not least led us to Hammarby's first title in 20 years.

If we look at where we were in sports when we took in Stefan 2018 compared to where we are today, he has fulfilled everything we expected from him.

Now it's time to take the next step in our development, and we will bring in someone who can build on what Stefan together with the other management staff laid the foundation for, says sports director Jesper Jansson to Hammarby's website.

Billborn came to Bajen already in 2015, then as head of the academy.

Then he became assistant coach for the men's team in 2017.
