Swedish Richard S Johnson has started this week's PGA competition in Ridgeland, South Carolina, strong - the 44-year-old is split seventh after the first day's game. Johnson's 67 strokes, four under par, mean that he is three strokes away from leading American Wes Roach and two behind world setter Dustin Johnson, who is honing his form ahead of next week's US Open.
Richard S Johnson, who in recent seasons has mainly played on the Korn Ferry Tour undertour, has a PGA Tour victory in his luggage, from 2008, and has not been in the top ten since 2010.
Another five Swedes competed in this week's competition.
Of them, Henrik Norlander (one under par and shared 41st place) and Alex Norén (on par and shared 54th) did best.
