• This Euro organized in 11 cities despite the pandemic promises very different reception conditions.

  • French supporters are not the worst off, even if it looks like a good idea to travel to Munich and Budapest.

  • Only Hungary has decided to fill their stadium 100% for the competition.

Note for later: an idea a little stupid can quickly become the stupidity of the century as long as it is grafted a pandemic in the hindquarters. Example with Euro 2021 and its thousand stadiums scattered across the four corners of the continent, which we once thought we could escape when the hypothesis of a tournament in a single city hovered at the height of the second wave of Covid-19. It was to misunderstand the power and the unreason of the European dream. The Euro for All will take place with the public, it is true, some pressure from UEFA to the host cities. But that the supporters do not cry victory too quickly: the gauges established in the various stadiums coupled with the sometimes drastic conditions of access to the organizing countries give the event the shape of an immense rubik's cube. Sit down,we take you into a world of gauges, PCR tests and paperwork.

What are the stadiums of Euro 2021?

Eleven cities will host the Euro teams.

A city = a stadium.

In this case, Amsterdam, Baku, Bucharest, Budapest, Copenhagen, Glasgow, Munich, London, Rome, Seville and Saint Petersburg.

Note that Sevilla replaces Bilbao and that Dublin disappears from the schedule in favor of Saint-Petersburg and London, which respectively recover the three matches of group E and a round of 16.

Where will France play?

First in Munich against Germany, then in Budapest against Hungary and Portugal.

Four paths are then possible for the Blues depending on their results in group stages.

In case of 1st place

 : Bucharest> Saint-Petersburg> London

In case of 2nd place:

London> Rome> London

In case of 3rd place:

Seville> Munich> London

or Budapest> Baku> London

Which gauges for which stages?

The organization pushed for the public to be present in all stages of Euro 2021, but the gauges are set by local authorities.

Hence the disparities.

Lucky for us, the Puskas Arena, where the Blues will face Hungary and Portugal, is the only one with 100% supporters.

Saint Petersburg and Baku: 50% of the stadium capacity.

Budapest: 100%.

Amsterdam, Bucharest, Copenhagen, Glasgow, Rome and Seville: 25% -33%.

London: at least 25% until the round of 16 inclusive, then 50% for the semi-finals and the final.

Munich: 22% (14,500 spectators).

What conditions of access to Munich and Budapest?

Munich

(spoiler alert, it's a huge mess)

 :

Holders of tickets for France-Germany will have to go through several stages before entering the Allianz Arena. First, they will have to fill out a form to declare themselves to the German authorities. Then, and whatever the mode of travel, a PCR test of less than 72 hours or an antigen test of less than 48 hours will be required. People who have been double vaccinated for more than 14 days or who contracted Covid-19 less than six months ago are exempt from testing.

Budapest:

You must have a ticket for one of the Euro matches in Budapest to enter Hungarian territory.

Proof of PCR test carried out within 72 hours of travel to Hungary written in English or Hungarian or a Covid-19 contamination certificate dated less than six months must be presented.

In Hungary, the curfew is in effect from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

There is no quarantine or length of stay limit for ticket holders.

On match day, a negative PCR test less than 72 hours before match day (in English or Hungarian) will be required and supporters will be given a half hour window to enter Puskas Arena.

The unlikely stadium the French might visit: Baku

Fans of exotic stadiums, know that Azerbaijan will only open its doors to ticket holders of British, Turkish and Swiss nationality as well as to nationals of the nations that will compete in Baku in the quarter-finals, including France. a tiny chance to be part.

For that, the Blues would have to make a mistake - but not too much - to finish their pool as the best third in order to have a chance to play their round of 16 in Budapest, the only way to reach Baku for the quarterfinals.

We do not know about you but as curious as we are, we will do well without this convoluted scenario.

The supporters' portfolio too: the trip to Baku is very badly named.
