It's a half-surprise.

The consumption of alcohol on public roads in Bayonne and Biarritz will be prohibited Saturday from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on the occasion of the Basque rugby derby between Biarritz Olympique and Aviron Bayonnais, announced the prefecture of Pyrénées-Atlantiques.

TV broadcasting of the match will also be prohibited "in all open bars, cafes and restaurants, in the municipalities of Bayonne, Anglet, Bidart, Biarritz, Guéthary, Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Ciboure, Urrugne and Hendaye", specifies the prefecture in a press release.

The broadcasting of these retransmissions "if it is carried out outside and visible from the public thoroughfare, is particularly likely to encourage gatherings on the public highway, which does not make it possible to guarantee compliance with barrier gestures" to avoid transmission of Covid-19, adds the prefecture.
