Caroline Djupsjö went to the national sports high school in Fagersta for water skiing and wakeboarding.

A springboard to a brilliant career with, among other things, four European Championship golds.

She took the student in 2010 and tells of a good time at school but also that she felt that the leaders in the education put too much focus on the students ', and especially the girls', weight.

- I have brought a lot with me to my career from wakeboard high school, but when it comes to the weight issue, I ask myself a little question if there is any correlation between what you weigh and what you perform on the water - and that maybe it should not such a big focus, says Djupsjö to SVT Sport.

"Took me a long time to shift focus"

She says that they wrote food diaries and that they would weigh themselves in front of others.

- I thought it was very hard to weigh myself in front of the guys and be compared to them in a way that was not quite ok, she says and continues:

- It took me a long time to shift focus when I trained from burning calories to lose weight to training to become stronger and to get better at wakeboarding.

Bengt Marberg was responsible for operations at the National Sports High School until the closure in 2020. He does not share the view that there should have been a special focus on emphasis on education.

- We never talk about weight, I have never mentioned weight.

Those who come here are quite fit and we have never had an overweight girl or boy here.

I can not even understand it then, it is probably something they have experienced themselves, he says.

According to him, some students had to write down what they ate in periods to ensure that they got enough food.

He also says that the students were weighed in connection with a fitness test about once per semester and that it was voluntary to weigh themselves in front of others.

Taken four European Championship golds

For the past fifteen years, Djupsjö has lined up wins and podium places in both championships and on the Wakeboard World Series tour.

Among other things, three fourth places from the WC 2018, four EC golds and a handful of SM golds.

Less than a week ago, she won a silver medal in the US Masters.

In addition, she was the first European woman to put a double volt (2015).
