Day 3 of the Memorial Tournament was one of

Jon Rahm's

most spectacular golf days

on the PGA Tour.

An exhibition with nine birdies and a single bogey that gave him six strokes of advantage (tying the also six strokes with which Tiger Woods left the last day of the year 2000) and equaling with -18, the lowest record of the tournament after 54 holes .

A near-perfect day of golf, a symphony of birdies with his fine new putter.

Everything was blown up.

On the 18th green, a couple of members of the organization were waiting for him and communicated the news.

Adam Hayes

caddy of Rahm, asked a television camera to withdraw, and the Spaniard put his hands to his head, bending his knees until almost touching the ground.

Rahm had tested positive for Covid-19 and had to withdraw from the tournament.

Jon left the scene

between rage and tears;

In the following minutes, the PGA Tour issued an official statement confirming the news, apparently Rahm was notified on May 31 after being in close contact with a positive, the PGA Tour protocol determined that he had to undergo daily tests.

Until the third day all tested negative.

On Saturday morning, Rahm resumed the end of his second round leaving a hole in one in the 16 (third in official competition on the PGA Tour), and finished the tournament as leader with -10, before starting the third day he was submitted to a new test. The news of the positive of the Spaniard,

totally asymptomatic,

arrived two hours after undergoing the test, just when the Spanish exhibition reached the peak until signing the card of 64 strokes.

Incomprehensibly, the organization wanted to wait for the Spaniard to

finish his return to communicate the news

and establish the planned protocol. Rahm will have to remain confined until June 15, just two days before the start of the US Open at Torrey Pines, one of his favorite fields on the PGA Tour. After the events, there are some unknowns that at this time the PGA Tour has not resolved, what happens to the teammates that Rahm has played with today? They are none other than

Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa

(teammates in the morning's second round finale), and

Scottie Scheffler

and

Patrick Cantlay.

(They played with Rahm on Saturday afternoon).

Among all these names are the first, second and fourth in the classification.

The other fact that at this point is difficult to understand is how it is possible these players are not yet vaccinated, taking into account the rate and facilities of vaccination in the United States.
