Cup winner Bayern Munich has made a big step towards a double and has moved into the play-off final of the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL).

The team of coach Andrea Trinchieri prevailed in the semifinals against the main round leader MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg at home with 82:73 (41:34) and won the best-of-five series 3-1 ahead of time.

In front of Bayern President Herbert Hainer, the hosts got off to a better start in a hard-fought first quarter.

Ludwigsburg worked its way up in the meantime, but both teams dropped a few points.

Nevertheless, Munich pulled something off at halftime.

Ludwigsburg, surprisingly the best team in the main round, started a race to catch up in the final phase of the third quarter.

With a 57:57 it went into the last quarter, in which the hosts, however, pulled away again and the lead could not be taken.

The Munich team's best thrower was Robin Amaize with 16 points, Jamel McLean (17 points) was the most successful scorer for the guests.

Bayern can now get the double from the championship and the cup for the second time since 2018. On Saturday (8.30 p.m. / MagentaSport), defending champion Alba Berlin can follow the Munich team to the final at ratiopharm Ulm. The capital club had turned the series against Ulm with 80:72 (39:37) on Thursday and took a 2-1 lead. For Berlin it would be the 18th participation in the final.
