The Emirates Winter Sports Federation obtained the membership of the International Ski Federation in the fellowship category, after the approval of all members was voted in the conference, which was held remotely from Portoroz, Slovenia, with the participation of 123 permanent members from member states yesterday.

The Federation participated in it from the meeting room of the Dubai Sports Council, in the presence of the heads of ski clubs in the country.

This membership is characterized by providing full opportunity for Emirati players to participate in tournaments approved and organized by the International Skating Federation, licensing players with calculating the hours of skating internationally, as well as the possibility of hosting local, regional and global tournaments with official approval from the International Skating Federation.

Hamel Al Qubaisi, Vice President of the Emirates Winter Sports Federation, said: "This achievement came thanks to the unlimited support of the rational leadership, and thanks to the good reputation that the UAE enjoys in international sports forums, as well as the state's modern sports facilities, facilities and expertise that qualify it to host and organize international tournaments and conferences And the world with high efficiency, in addition to the achievements of winter sports in the past years.”

Al Qubaisi added, "This membership is a continuation of the previous membership obtained by the UAE Federation in 2018, and an important step for obtaining permanent membership next year. Our quest for membership of the international federations comes within the strategic plan of the UAE Federation to open wider horizons for winter sports in the Emirates."

The federation had prepared an integrated file to support the UAE's chances of obtaining membership in the International Ski Federation, due to the presence of six sports clubs specialized in skiing, and more than 700 certified athletes, in addition to the success in organizing the first Paralympic ski championship for people of determination in November 2018, which It was held on state soil with the participation of 48 male and female players representing 15 countries, as well as the success in organizing many local championships and competitions in the sport of skiing on snowy slopes, both zigzag and freestyle.
