The handball players of TBV Lemgo Lippe are German cup winners for the fourth time in the club's history.

The East Westphalia prevailed on Friday in front of 2000 spectators in Hamburg with 28:24 (15:12) against MT Melsungen and thus have a starting place in the European League for the coming season.

The best throwers were Jonathan Carlsbogard and Lukas Zerbe with five goals each for TBV and Domagoj Pavlovic with six goals for Melsungen, who is still waiting for the first national title.

In a competitive, but not necessarily high-class final between the Bundesliga eighth from Melsungen and table eleventh from Lemgo, the lead changed back and forth several times.

After MT had initially presented at 9: 6 (19th) and 11: 8 (22nd), the TBV went into the break with a three-goal lead.

Telling: Both teams had great problems getting into the game for the goalkeepers.

It was only in the 20th minute that the Lemgo goalkeeper Finn Zecher managed the first goalkeeper parade of the entire game.

The only 20-year-old Zecher developed into the backing of his team, which was ahead with six goals for the first time thanks to a fast-paced counter-strike from Bjarki Mar Elisson at 21:15 (49th).

Already two minutes before the final whistle the Lemgoer Schlachtenbummler chanted “This is where the TBV rules”.
