An experience-based event for citizens was held in Shimotsuke City, Tochigi Prefecture, in order to make "Boccia", one of the Paralympic Games, widely known to the general public.

The experience-based event was held at a physical education center in Shimotsuke City, Tochigi Prefecture, in order to let people know the appeal of sports for the disabled for the Tokyo Paralympics, and 41 people, including parents and children, participated.

We first learned the rules of boccia from city officials and cooperating insurance company personnel, and then experienced playing on a smaller court for children than for competition.

The teams were divided into red and blue teams to compete against each other, aiming for a target white ball called a jack ball, and tossing and rolling balls of each color to compete for how many balls could be brought closer to the jack ball. ..

Participants showed a happy expression when they scored well, even though they failed by rolling the ball too hard and sticking out of the court.

The 4th grade girl who participated said, "I was happy to get a lot of points when I got used to it."

In addition, his father in his 40s said, "I wanted to support the Paralympic athletes because of my experience."

Mari Ohashi, the director of the Shimotsuke City General Policy Division, said, "Boccia is very interesting, and above all, I'd be happy if anyone could easily understand it."
