The Swiss motorcycle rider Jason Dupasquier is treated in the intensive care unit of a Florence hospital after his serious fall while qualifying for the Moto3 World Championship in Italy.

His condition is very critical, said the world motorcycle association FIM on Saturday.

"At the moment we know for sure that he is in a very serious condition," said FIM chief doctor Giancarlo de Filippo.

"We are waiting for news from the hospital."

The 19-year-old Dupasquier from the German Prüstel team fell out of a corner in the second qualifying race of the Moto3 class in Mugello. There are contradicting statements as to whether the following drivers met the Swiss lying on the ground or were able to evade him. Two pilots also fell, but were uninjured.
