Officially, Real Madrid announces the annexation of Alaba for a period of 5 years

Real Madrid announced, Friday, that Austrian defender David Alaba has joined its ranks, with a five-year contract.

The Spanish club said in a statement that "Real Madrid has reached an agreement with the player David Alaba, who will be associated with the club for the next five seasons."

He added that Alaba "will be presented as a new player in Real Madrid after the end of the European Cup," in which he will participate with the Austrian national team, scheduled between June 11 and July 11.

The announcement of the inclusion of the 28-year-old, who won the Champions League twice with Bayern Munich, came after the resignation of Zinedine Zidane from the coaching of the royal team.

Alaba had indicated last February that he intended to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season, and given that his contract was in its finals, Real Madrid would have to pay his transfer fee.

The Austrian denied that his departure from Bayern was linked to his exorbitant financial demands, as previously announced by former club president Uli Hoeness.

Alaba, who can play in several positions, arrived at Bayern Munich at the age of sixteen after playing with the junior club Austria Vienna.

He won 28 titles with Bayern Munich, including ten league titles and two Champions League titles in 2013 and 2020.
