Memphis Depay has not yet decided where he wants to continue his career.

The striker of the Dutch national team is coveted by FC Barcelona, where trainer Ronald Koeman may have to leave after the changeable season of the Catalans.

"The future of Koeman should not matter if a club like FC Barcelona is interested in you," Memphis said in conversation with the

"There is interest, but there are more great clubs. Regardless of where I go, I would like it if Koeman stays."

58-year-old Koeman had a first meeting with chairman Joan Laporta this week, but there is still no clarity about his future.

The relationship between the two was further sharpened on Friday, when Laporta incorrectly said at a press conference that Koeman had been hospitalized urgently.

According to his management, it turned out to be a regular check.

Should Koeman be fired despite his contract running until mid-2022, this does not necessarily mean that Memphis will reject a transfer to the Catalan club.

The 62-time international decided not to renew his expiring contract with Olympique Lyon and can look for a new club transfer-free.

"I haven't really planned when I want clarity for myself," said Memphis, who previously played for PSV and Manchester United.

"This is also new to me, because I have never been in such a situation. I now have my full focus on the European Championship and Orange."

If Memphis does choose FC Barcelona, he may not only be reunited with former national coach Koeman.

Georginio Wijnaldum also seems to sign with the Spanish superpower and Frenkie de Jong has been under contract there since the summer of 2019.
