The Tokyo Olympic Torch Relay will be held in Shiga Prefecture from the 27th.

Following the spread of the new coronavirus, Shiga Prefecture is calling for refraining from viewing along the road.

The torch relay will be handed over from Kyoto prefecture to Shiga prefecture and will be held for two days on the 27th and 28th.

The torch relay in Shiga Prefecture will pass through all 19 cities and towns in the prefecture, and 179 runners will connect the torch over approximately 33.3 kilometers.

Of these, on the 27th of the first day, we will pass through nine cities and towns, and in Takashima City in the northern part of Shiga Prefecture, which is the starting point, we will run the Metasequoia Namiki, which is a popular tourist spot for torchbearers.

In addition, a bicycle torch relay will be held in the section of about 1 km of Lake Biwa Bridge over Lake Biwa.

In response to the spread of the new corona infection, Shiga Prefecture has reduced the scale of the departure ceremony and the "Celebration" event to celebrate the torch, and is calling for refraining from viewing along the road and utilizing the Internet relay.
