Coach Antonio Conte terminated his contract with Inter Milan a year before his end, days after the club won the Italian Football League title for the first time in 11 years.

Conte, who joined Inter in May 2019, decided to leave after Italian media reported that he was upset with the club's plans to cut investment and cut spending due to the financial fallout from the Covid-19 epidemic.

The statements of Christian Stellini, Conte's assistant, after the team secured the Italian League title at the beginning of this May, is the best explanation for the departure of the crowned Conte.

"We are excited about continuing, but when you have a great coach, this requires a big project as well, and selling prominent players may change that, but it is up to the club to clarify the situation," Stellini said.

Stellini's comments illustrate Conte's desire to continue and Inter wants to keep him as well, but the coach's ambitions contrast with the club's declining financial position.
