About 1,600 athletes and instructors participating in the Tokyo Olympics will be vaccinated against the new coronavirus from June 1st at the National Training Center.

Regarding vaccination of athletes from each country and region participating in the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics The IOC = International Olympic Committee has signed a memorandum of understanding with major pharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer to receive vaccines free of charge in addition to general vaccinations. Regarding Olympic athletes and leaders, the JOC conducted a survey on the desired times and target athletes for each competition organization.



As a result, from June 1st, each competition will be held at the National Training Center in Kita-ku, Tokyo, where many athletes are based to avoid affecting the general medical system, except for athletes who inoculate ahead of schedule for overseas expeditions. The team doctor of the group will play a central role in inoculation.



The inoculation is a request system, and the target is about 1600 people including athletes who have been unofficially decided to represent, athletes who may be unofficially decided, leaders, and staff who may come into contact with athletes.



The JPC = Japan Paralympic Committee is coordinating the vaccination of Tokyo Paralympic athletes and leaders.
