Up to 16,500 spectators will be able to attend the Champions League final in Porto on Saturday, the Portuguese authorities having allowed 33% of the public, UEFA announced on Tuesday by opening ticket sales.

For this meeting initially scheduled in Istanbul, and relocated in mid-May to the Dragon Stadium in Porto to allow the movement of British supporters, the body had already allocated 6,000 tickets to each finalist, namely Chelsea and Manchester City.

To this will be added the traditional invitations, as well as “1,700 tickets reserved for the general public”, and sold from this Tuesday at 12:00 (Paris time) “according to the principle of“ first come, first served ””, specifies the 'UEFA.

The prices fall into four categories, from 70 euros to 600 euros - against a range of 40 to 130 euros for the Europa League final, Manchester United-Villarreal, this Wednesday in Gdansk.

No quarantine on return

Health crisis requires, access to the stadium "will require proof of a negative test for Covid-19", and spectators coming from abroad "will have to respect the conditions of entry into the territory", according to the authority. On the other hand and as Portugal is on the “green list” of the British authorities, neither the players nor the English supporters will have to undergo quarantine on their return home.

To accommodate the most anticipated shock of the season, UEFA had to seek a fallback when the United Kingdom imposed severe travel restrictions to Turkey on 7 May.

The body had first tried to move the meeting to England - a common sense solution with two finalists playing in the Premier League - but London still had to allow the media, officials and guests to enter its territory without quarantine .

Failing to obtain this derogation, the Portuguese federation and the Lisbon authorities had offered their help to UEFA, as already in August 2020 when Lisbon had hosted the "Final 8" and made it possible to complete the Champions League despite the pandemic.
