Liverpool fans choose Mohamed Salah as the best player of the season

Egyptian football star Mohamed Salah was crowned today, Tuesday, the player of the season award by choosing the fans of the English Liverpool team.

Salah beat Brazilian midfielder Fabinho, who came second, and English defender Nathaniel Phillips, who finished third.

Mohamed Salah said in statements to the official Liverpool website: "Of course I am happy with this award, especially as it was the choice of the fans, but winning our last matches and qualifying for the Champions League was the most important thing."

He added: "I think I played well this season, but it is not about me, but about the team. I think if we had the support of the fans on the stadium, we would be in a much better position."

And he added, "We suffered a lot this season in the absence of the crowd, so I was happy to have them attend the last match. It was good to see them return to the stadium."

Although he scored many decisive goals, the best moment of the season for Salah was not related to him.

He said, "The bright moment of the season was Alison Baker's goal in West Brom. I can't say more, it was unbelievable, and as I said it is about the team and his reaction after the goal."

He stressed, "I never thought about the possibility of this happening. It was the moment after which I felt that we would play in the Champions League next season."

He continued: "It was the last ball in the match, an unbelievable moment, I was so happy for him, it was a really great header, unexpected, he did a great job and gave us the three points."

In the 2020-2021 season, Mohamed Salah scored 31 goals in 51 matches in all competitions, 22 of them in the English Premier League.
