At the WC 2018, Andreas Granqvist had a big role in the Swedish team - both on and off the field.

But at the upcoming European Championship tournament, the situation looks different.

When the EC squad was presented, the national team captain Janne Andersson himself said that "Granen" was selected because 26 players had to be taken out due to the prevailing pandemic.

- If I had taken out 23 players, Granen would not have been involved, Andersson said then.

Granqvist has no problem with his role being more about contributing energy and experience outside on the pitch.

- I know which entrance I go into this championship.

It is of course different towards 2018. But it is a long way to the first match and I will do everything I can to be part of the competition, Granqvist says and continues:

- Right now I am not there physically if the championship had been tomorrow.

Playing time or not - no matter what, Granqvist will not be disappointed.

- No, we do this as a team.

If I do not play, I will be there to support the boys.

There are no problems even if I do not play a single minute in the championship.

The Swedish team gathered today for the first camp before the European Championships which starts on 11 June.

For Sweden, the European Championship premiere awaits on June 14 against Spain in Seville.
