The Board of Directors of the Dubai International Marine Club announced the formation of the Supreme Organizing Committee for the Al-Qaffal Long-Distance Race for Domestic Sailing Ships 60 feet from Sir Bu Nair Island to the beaches of Dubai, which is organized by the club under the patronage and support of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Council Executive, during the period from 4 to 5 June next.

The formation of the Higher Organizing Committee for the upcoming event came under the chairmanship of Ahmed bin Mashar, Chairman of the Dubai International Marine Club, while Saif Al Suwaidi, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, holds the position of Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, and includes in its membership Rashid Thani Al-Ayel, Member of the Board of Directors, Chairman of the Sports Committee, and Mohammed Abdullah Hareb is the CEO, and Hazeem Al Qamzi, Director of the Racing Department.

A press release said: “After its formation, the organizing committee began preparing for the start of the grand festival as soon as the directives of His Highness the Crown Prince of Dubai were issued to organize the race in coordination and consultation with government departments and national institutions in the emirate, as well as the authorities responsible for Sir Bu Nair Island, which is the starting place of the race since its inception in 1991.” .

The organizing committee held its first meeting under the chairmanship of Ahmed bin Mashar and the attendance of the members, where it discussed the necessary arrangements for the success of the large maritime sporting event, especially since the upcoming version bears the number 30 and coincides with the year of fifty, and comes months before the start of the exhibition «Expo Dubai 2020».

In the meeting, the committee directed the team at the Dubai International Marine Sports Club to work in the spirit of one team in order to complete the tasks and make the event successful with the start of the countdown to the historic race date, which brings together the people and fans of heritage marine sports, where the event will be held in accordance with the terms of the protocol issued by the Supreme Committee for Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management And the instructions of the Dubai Sports Council with regard to permitting only the participation and attendance of the recipients of the two vaccine doses, in addition to the results of a nasal swab 48 hours before the date of heading to Sir Bu Nair Island for all the participants in the race from Nakhitha, Malak, sailors, organizational and technical committees.

The meeting agreed on the proposed schedule for the event, as Thursday, the third of June, was set as the date for all participating bearings to arrive at the launch site on Sir Bu Nair Island, and to complete the technical inspection procedures on the participating ships before the race date.

And it was decided that Friday, the fourth of next June, will be the date for the 30th edition of the Al Qaffal race, according to the conditions and conditions of the sea and wind speeds, and in the event that the race is not held, the start will be postponed to the next day.
