At the end of this football season, not only will head coach Hansi Flick leave Bayern Munich, his two assistants will also leave.

The co-coaches Hermann Gerland and Miroslav Klose confirmed this decision.

There has been no reaction from the club so far.

It is above all surprising that Gerland, 66 years old and has been employed in several positions in the Bavarian youth and professional division since 2001, will leave the club despite a contract that is valid until summer 2022.

He is considered one of the defining Bayern figures of this century, who has distinguished himself by being able to classify the talent of players better than most.

For example, he stood up for Philipp Lahm when many did not trust him to play the Bundesliga due to his small body size.

According to a "kicker" report, the new head coach in Munich, Julian Nagelsmann, has no place for Gerland in his team.

The farewell to Klose, 42 years old and freshly trained as a football teacher, is less of a surprise. His contract is running out. In the conflict between Hansi Flick and Hasan Salihamidžić, he was always on the side of his head coach - and could follow him if he switched to the German Football Association.
