In order for Sweden to take the quota place for the Paralympics in Tokyo, it was required that Ripa finished at least four of the countries that are not already qualified.

Which Ripa also did with his eighth place.

- As it looks at the moment, I am eight in the final, which seems to be enough for a qualifying place.

But we are currently waiting for the results from the International Canoe Federation and how they will allocate places to the nations.

But it looks positive, says Helene Ripa to SVT Sport.

Not competed in two years

Today's competition was tough for Ripa, who has not competed in two years after a neck operation in 2019.

- There was so much at stake, so it has been a tough morning with a lot of mental strain.

The race itself went okay, it was difficult to compete when you have not done it in two years, she says.

- The performance itself is not so pleasing to me, but if you look at it in its entirety, I am of course very pleased that, as it looks, I have taken a quota place to Tokyo.

I'm very proud of that, says Helene Ripa to SVT Sport.

The official results have not come yet, but Ripa is hopeful.

- We have to wait and see, the dream lives on to the highest degree, she says.
