Tove Alexandersson was poked earlier this week in the sprint relay.

Today she took revenge when she won European Championship gold in knockout sprint.

Eight seconds second Simona Aebersold.

Norwegian Andrine Benjaminsen won the bronze.

- She is the best, says SVT's expert Mats Troeng.

The gold is Alexandersson's fifth European Championship gold.

- It was incredibly intense.

I stuck to my plan and did exactly as I should, so I am super happy, says Tove Alexandersson to SVT Sport.

The second Swede in the final, 21-year-old Vilma von Krusenstierna, finished in fifth place.

No Swede made it to the final on the men's side, where the Swiss Matthias Kyburz won.
