• Jérémy Desdouets will try to set a speed record on the GR34.

  • From Mont Saint-Michel, from where he will start this Saturday, in Saint-Nazaire (Loire-Atlantique), the sportsman from Lorient will have to cover 2,000 kilometers, and is aiming for less than 30 days.

If the years 2020 and 2021 had been "normal", he would never have been able to challenge himself.

Deprived of competition for months, trail runner Jérémy Desdouets will try to set a speed record on the GR34.

Commonly called the “customs officers' trail”, this covered way goes all around Brittany.

From Mont Saint-Michel, from where he will start this Saturday, in Saint-Nazaire (Loire-Atlantique), the sportsman from Lorient will have to swallow the 2,000 kilometers of the demanding steep path.

An ambitious journey that the athlete hopes to complete in less than 30 days to set a first record.

Before him, no one has ever taken up the challenge.

To achieve this, the athlete has planned to run between ten and twelve hours a day, at a rate of about 80 km traveled daily depending on the sections.

“The challenge promises to be enormous but it is playable.

So yes it's going to be hard, I'm aware of it.

I will have to keep a mental freshness throughout the course ”explains the trailer in a press release.

For several years, the native child has been training daily and swallowing hundreds of kilometers per month.

A jackpot to help the SNSM

The man will pass not far from his village of Inzinzac-Lochrist where he grew up alongside a certain Warren Barguil, French road cycling champion in 2019 and rider of the Breton team of Arkea-Samsic, as Ouest-France reminds us.

This record attempt, the trail runner will make it in the company of his partner and his six-month-old baby, who will follow him from the road.

But also with the support of the rescuers at sea. The runner wanted to associate the SNSM with his record attempt and will pass in front of about fifty rescue stations, where the volunteers will run with him.

A jackpot was launched by the runner to help the SNSM.
