RFI: Manon Fiorot, how do you feel, four weeks before your second fight in the UFC?

Manon Fiorot:

Very well.

The programming went very well, so did the weight loss.

Everything is fine, I am even a little early.

There are two weeks left before departure.

We finish the last training sessions.

All the preparation went really well.

Do you know where this fight will take place?

Yes, it will be in Las Vegas, at UFC Apex.

Is it special for you to fight in Las Vegas?

Yes, in the life of a fighter (sic), it is important to have fought at least once there!

I'm happy.

You will face the Ukrainian Maryna Moroz.

What do you know about this opponent?

Already, she comes from a big team.

She trains for the American Top Team [

the same team as

the Brazilian Amanda Nunes

and the American Dustin Poirier in particular, note

].

After that, what is interesting for me is that it comes from the category of 52 kilos at the base

[straw weights, note]

.

Obviously, she won't have my power and my strength.

It is an advantage for me.

We also know that she is a boxer, she is strong in boxing.

And she's not too bad at grappling.

She has more UFC experience than you.

Can this work in his favor?

I do not think so.

For me it will be a good test anyway.

A lot of people are going to watch this fight.

If I win it, it will really allow me to take a step forward in my career.

You have won your last four fights by technical knockout.

Do you feel like this is what is systematically expected of you: that you fight in a spectacular way to win before the fight is over?

This is still the plan for this fight!

The goal is to finish it before the limit.

If you beat her, can we consider that this will be the last step before a fight against a fighter classified in the top 15?

Yeah, I think if I get this fight done with the way I will surely ask to face a top 15 or even a top 10 girl.

This fight will be your second of the year 2021. How many more do you hope to do, if this one goes well?

If this one goes well, I would love to do one in September-October.

Your last fight in January garnered a lot of media attention.

Do you feel like you've changed dimension since you started at UFC?

Yes.

Obviously, with the UFC, we are put forward a lot more and we have a lot more visibility through the media, all that.

That's great, as a fighter.

Is it nice to generate so much interest, or would you rather not pay too much attention to it all?

No, it's nice.

After that, I don't pay particular attention to it for now.

But it motivates me for future fights.

When you see OGC Nice, the football club in your city, devote a subject to you, does it give you the impression that you really are a prominent French athlete at the moment?

Definitely!

It’s really nice.

It makes you want to go even higher!

This next fight, how do you see it?

KO in the second or third round.

Always the same, KO

(laughs)
