It may only be momentary, but statistics still reveal the inexorable decline of American tennis.

For the first time since the creation of the ATP in 1973, no US player appears this Monday in the Top 30. The first of them, Taylor Fritz, has indeed dropped one place this week, to find himself in 31st position.

Behind Roddick, the void

A great slap in the face for the country which has given tennis the most number 1 in the world, between Jimmy Connors, John McEnroe, Jim Courier, Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi and Andy Roddick.

Since the latter, in 2004, the United States has no longer had a representative at the top of men's tennis.

Also note in this week's ranking the return of Daniil Medvedev to 2nd place in place of Rafael Nadal, eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Masters 1000 in Madrid.

Alexander Zverev, winner of this tournament on Sunday - he had not won in Masters 1000 for three years - consolidates his 6th place.

The other finalist, the Italian Matteo Berrettini, climbs to 9th place in the world.

The first Frenchman is Gaël Monfils, 15th.
