Ramon Leeuwin (AZ) and Edson Álvarez (Ajax) were suspended for one game on Monday for their red card in the 32nd round of play in the Eredivisie last weekend.

Both players have to watch their club's penultimate game in the regular season on Thursday.

Leeuwin was sent off on Saturday in the home game with Fortuna Sittard (1-0 win) shortly after the break for taking down Sebastian Polter who had broken through.

The 33-year-old defender of AZ only played his second Eredivisie game of 2021. After fifteen minutes, he came on for the injured Timo Letschert.

AZ will visit FC Groningen without Leeuwin on Thursday.

The Alkmaarders compete with PSV for second place in the last two rounds of play, which is good for a ticket for the preliminary rounds of the Champions League.

PSV, which plays at home against PEC Zwolle, is one point ahead of AZ.
