Taco van der Hoorn won the third stage in the Giro d'Italia in a very nice way on Monday.

The 27-year-old Dutchman, who makes his debut in a grand tour, was on the attack all day and was just ahead of the oncoming peloton.

Van der Hoorn started a solo at 8 kilometers from the finish and held up well in the streets of Canale.

Van der Hoorn had to leave Jumbo-Visma last winter after two seasons.

The born Rotterdammer got a chance with Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert Matériaux, a Belgian team that does not have a WorldTour license.

Van der Hoorn broke through in 2018 with a stage win in the BinckBank Tour, his only victory at WorldTour level until Monday.
