Shim Seok-hee was the first to cross the finish line with a record of 1 minute 28 seconds 198 in the women's 1,000 meters held on the last day of the 2021-2022 season short track national team’s second contest held at Taereung Ice Market in Seoul on the 9th. It was ranked 4th with 344 minutes, 23 seconds.



Shim Seok-hee, who took 1st place in the women's 500m and 3rd place in the women's 500m the previous day, scored 89 points in the 2nd round and won the overall victory with 99 points in the first and second rounds.



Although they scored a tie with Minjung Choi (Seongnam City Hall) in the overall score of the 1st and 2nd matches, Shim Seok-hee rose to the top according to the principle of prioritizing the results of the 2nd game.



In this selection, which was held twice as the 1st and 2nd rounds, 4 500m, 1,000m, 1,500m, and 1,500m Super Finals were held, respectively, and the athletes received points according to the ranking of each event.



A total of 16 men and women ranked 1st to 8th in the 1st (50 points) and 2nd rounds (50 points) were selected as the national team in the 2021-2022 season.



Shim Suk-hee was selected as the national representative after two years and regained the Taegeuk mark.



Shim Seok-hee, who won the short-track women's 3,000m relay gold medal at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, went through a difficult period afterwards.



The Taegeuk mark was also returned in 2019 due to back and ankle injuries.

Following Hwang Dae-heon, Lee Jun-seo (Korea Sports University) ranked second and Park Jang-hyuk (Sports Toto) ranked third in the men's division.



Kwak Yoon-gi (Goyang City Hall), Kim Dong-wook (Sports Toto), Park In-wook (Daejeon Sports Association), Han Seung-soo (Sports Toto), and Park Ji-won (Seoul City Hall) were also named in the national team.



Players who are ranked 1st to 5th in both men and women are eligible to compete in the 2022 Beijing Olympics.



1st to 3rd place get the right to participate in individual Olympic events, and the 4th to 5th place athletes participate in group competitions such as relays.



The 6th to 8th place athletes join the national team as training partners as well as the qualification of ‘next additional selection’ in case the top ranked athletes are unable to compete in the Olympics due to injuries.



In addition, the 1st to 6th place athletes are eligible to participate in the International Ice Skating Federation (ISU) World Cup series to win the Beijing Olympic Quarter.
