- I am almost a little moved to see a Swedish women's team play so well against merited international opposition.

It is the best women's volleyball we have seen in several years, says SVT's expert Andrea Jacobsson.

Sweden won a tough first set with 27-25 where they saved a set ball at 23-24.

There, the match could have taken a different development.

When Sweden went to 4-0 in the second set, Ukraine took a timeout but the numbers ran to 10-2 and Sweden won the set 25-19.

In the third set, Ukraine led 15-12 and looked to force a fourth set, but from 18-18, Sweden scored seven straight points in a final demonstration of power.

The match was played in Matosinhos in northern Portugal.

Portugal and Georgia are the other teams in the group where the top two go to the European Championship finals in Romania, Serbia, Croatia and Bulgaria in August.
