The Dutch volleyball players won their first match of the European Championship qualifying tournament in Zadar, Croatia on Friday.
The team of national coach Roberto Piazza defeated the host nation 3-1 (32-30, 19-25, 25-23 and 25-18).
Sweden is the other opponent in the group for the Orange.
The three countries will meet in Apeldoorn next week.
All group winners and the five best numbers two of the seven groups qualify for the final round of the European Championship in September in the Czech Republic, Finland, Estonia and Poland.
The Dutch men, just like the women, have not qualified for the Olympic Games next summer in Tokyo.
The Netherlands and Croatia had long been well-matched.
The first set was only decided in favor of the Orange at a score of 32-30.
After this set win, the men of Piazza had to hand over the second set to the Croats.
For a long time, the third company was also right, but in the final phase, the Netherlands still managed to take the profit.
In the fourth set, the Dutch men quickly took a lead and never relinquished it.
