Uefa, the European Football Association, has now decided to punish the clubs that tried to create the Super League.

The breakaway project, which lasted 48 hours, means that the nine clubs - which have confirmed that they will withdraw - will lose five percent of the income from the UEFA Champions and Europa League next season.

However, Barcelona, Juventus and Real Madrid have so far refused to approve so-called "reintegration measures".

They will hold disciplinary talks with Uefa, and may still be suspended from the Champions League.

The accepting clubs - Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, Milan and Inter - will together pay SEK 152 million that will benefit youth football.

They have also signed that a new attempt to create a tournament outside Uefa will cost them over a billion kroner.

"Considerable"

- The measures are significant, but none of the financial sanctions will be retained by Uefa.

They will be invested in youth and grassroots football.

These clubs quickly realized their mistakes and have taken steps to show their future commitment to European football, says UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin.

- The same can not be said about the three remaining clubs, he says.
