Former Le Havre, PSG, Rennes and Toulouse goalkeeper Christophe Revault died suddenly at the age of 49.

At the microphone of Europe 1, his former Parisian teammate Jimmy Algerino greets "a huge goalkeeper who could have had the same career as Fabien Barthez or Bernard Lama". 

Christophe Revault, former goalkeeper of Le Havre but also of Paris SG, Rennes and Toulouse, died suddenly at the age of 49, announced the Norman club.

"It is a huge Monsieur du HAC who is leaving us and leaves the club orphaned by one of its most brilliant HACMan. All our thoughts are with his family and his two children," the club said in a statement.

"We are losing one of our own, a very endearing personality and an unconditional lover of both HAC and Le Havre," added club president Vincent Volpe.

Tributes quickly poured into the world of football, starting with Paris Saint-Germain, who spoke of their "deep sadness" on social networks.

Trained in Le Havre, Christophe Revault began his career with the Norman club, then in Ligue 1, before being transferred to PSG (1997-1998) to try to ensure the difficult succession of Bernard Lama.

Then passed through Rennes and Toulouse, he returned to finish his sports career in Le Havre, where he then remained in charge of sports animation, moreover ensuring several interim as a trainer.

"I had the pleasure of meeting him in Paris for more than a season, and then also in Toulouse and again in Paris, where I found him," responded to the microphone of Europe 1 the former footballer Jimmy Algerino. "He was really an adorable guy, (…) a huge goalkeeper who could have had the same career as Fabien Barthez or Bernard Lama", he added, "very touched".
