Already in the autumn of 2019, the 30-year-old began to feel health problems linked to too low energy intake.

This made the skeleton weaker and when she jumped on a concrete floor in March last year, she suffered a fatigue fracture in her heel, something she hit during the summer.

When it was time for the Norwegian season premiere in Beitostölen in November last year, Östberg was stopped because she did not meet the association's health requirements.

Even then, the decision was made to cancel the entire last season.

Thought she would go last season

- I had a hope of coming back a little later in the season.

But when things turned out the way they did, you have to accept that the health team has a different opinion about what is best for me, Östberg says to NRK in his first interview since last summer.

Even though Östberg is physically in phase with where she should be, she is humble for the future and the first sub-goal which is the Norwegian season premiere in Beitostölen in November.

- My goal is to fight for medals in the Olympics.

But it is obvious that I can not stand here and promise you that I will start or not, she says.

She trains under the careful supervision of the national team management.

- It is a process that takes a long time.

It is a change in the body that can take time.

The balance between exercise and recovery must be completely in balance.

We do not know how long it will take.

What we do know is that there is currently a high risk of injury, says national team doctor Öystein Andersen.
