The Pfizer and BioNTech laboratories announced on Thursday that they had entered into a memorandum of understanding with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to provide vaccines against Covid-19 for athletes and delegations from all countries participating in the Tokyo Olympics. next summer.

The two companies "will coordinate with Olympic committees across the globe" and the first deliveries of their vaccine will begin at the end of May, they said in a statement, specifying that these doses would be added to orders from different countries.

The IOC has ruled out making vaccination compulsory for the Olympics (23 July-8 August), but encourages participants to be vaccinated.
