Martin Ponsiluoma took an individual gold and both Sebastian Samuelsson and Hanna Öberg each won individual silver at the World Cup in Pokljuka in February.

At the Beijing Olympics, the hunt for championship medals continues for the trio.

The Swedish Olympic Committee (SOK) also gives the go-ahead for all relay teams: men's teams, women's teams and mixed relay teams.

All three participated in the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang 2018 which was an unexpected success.

Öberg and Samuelsson each took gold and silver.

"A team that surprised very positively in Pyeongchang and which has now developed into one of our strongest national teams," says SOK's operations manager Peter Reinebo in the press release.

More biathletes will be taken out in the autumn.

Among those who have to wait for an Olympic place are experienced World Cup skiers such as Linn Persson, Elvira Öberg, Mona Brorsson and Jesper Nelin.

Former long distance star Stina Nilsson may also be relevant for the Olympics.

She made her debut as a biathlete last winter and mixed weak races with some strong ones - including a 22nd place in the World Cup final in Östersund.

"The internal competition in the biathlon team is strong and we look forward to taking out a full women's team and a men's team around the turn of the year," says Reinebo.

On Tuesday, SOK made the first selection when six cross-country skiers received their Olympic tickets.

The selections continue during the week, on Thursday the first skiers in alpine and skicross will be taken out.

The Beijing Olympics will be inaugurated on February 4, 2022.
