During the recently concluded season, 33 percent of the competitors in the Pro Tour were women.

In total, there are 103 female athletes in the 35 different teams.

A figure that pleases the long-distance running star, Britta Johansson Norgren.

- It feels really fun.

This has been long awaited as Ski Classics has worked very well to get more ladies in and that more people will be interested.

There has been a small increase every year, although it has been a bit tough.

But it feels like it's really taking off now.

It was a nice increase for this year and I think that next year there will be another fairly large increase so we can approach 50 percent.

"It happens a lot"

The number of participating women skiers has increased for each season, although Johansson Norgren believes that the development has progressed even more in recent years than it did before.

- As it looks right now, I am satisfied.

I think it has been slow when you look back a few years where you think there must be more who dare to invest in long distance running.

But as it looks now, a lot is happening and there are many young girls who are investing, which has been very much anticipated, that you dare to invest early in your career.

"Will mean a lot"

From the coming season, the long-distance race cup can be followed on SVT and Vinterstudion.

A fact that Britta Johansson Norgren believes can mean a lot to the interest in the competitions.

- I think it will mean a lot. Already in recent years, it has been very noticeable about how many are involved and when you are out competing, there are many who come forward and talk and who have followed us. But then there are many who have an interest in skiing who have chosen to watch. But now that it will be on SVT, we can reach out to many more who are interested in sports and that the interest will then increase.
